Rose Jelly, The Market and More

What a whirlwind it has been over here getting ready for our First Annual BOHO Farmers/Flea Market! 
It was a huge success with over 500 people coming thru our garden gate.

  I will post more this week, but until then I am going to share with you my recipe for Rose Petal Jelly. 
I first saw this jelly when I was in the South of France at our friends confiserie

Returning to the states with me was many jars of their amazing confit de petales de rose 
and I proceeded to worked on duplicating the recipe and this is the results. 
We made a bunch for the farmers market and it sold out quickly,
but don't worry, we will be making more!

Rose Petal Jelly

4 cups scented rose petals (they must be from your garden--the ones from the store will not work)
2 cups water
3 1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 package of Certo Liquid pectin

Wash the rose petals and place in pan with water.  Cover and bring to a boil. 
Immediately remove from heat and set aside to steep. Add sugar and lemon juice;
bring to a full boil.  Add liquid pectin and bring back to a boil, stirring constantly. 
Boil till thickens, remove from heat and skim off any foam.  Fill the sterilized jars 1/8"
from the top, and place them into the canner, to boil for 10 minutes.

This is especially good on scones or with a fresh baguette, slathered with butter
 and topped with this amazing jam.  Enjoy!

Another fun thing that happened last week is Alison from The Polohouse nominated
our little BOHO Farm for a Stylish Blogger Award.  Alison might be from
Pennsylvania but she is a Midwestern girl now and her blog is just beautiful,
full of English Country charm. If you don't know her go and check her out. 
She is really lovely and you will see why I like her so much!

  1. I can't wait to see and read more about your Boho Farm Flea Market! The rose petal jelly sounds delicious! I have never tried making my own jellies or jams before. Maybe I should give it a try!

    Glad to hear your farmers/flea market was such a success! This is something I'd love to do here at our place... but with everything else going on in life it will be a year or two down the road!

  10. I had so much fun working at the market and meeting all the people who came... the rose jam was a huge success. Everyone who tried it loved it. No wonder you sold out along with your home made butter, goat cheeses and lemon curd... not to mention the great salsa. Congrats on a great day!!!
