La Plage...

Oh to be by the sea...

After a week of unplugged beach living with limited computer access and no email
...we are back.
renewed, restored, ready to tackle fall planting and the kitchen.

Once I finish the MOUNTAIN of laundry and get this place cleaned up...
I'll catch you up!

L' Homme Et La Mer

Homme libre, toujours tu chériras la mer!
La mer est ton miroir; tu contemples ton âme
Dans le déroulement infini de sa lame,
Et ton esprit n'est pas un gouffre moins amer.

Tu te plais à plonger au sein de ton image;
Tu l'embrasses des yeux et des bras, et ton coeur
Se distrait quelquefois de sa propre rumeur
Au bruit de cette plainte indomptable et sauvage.

~Charles Baudelaine

"Free man, you'll always love the sea — for this,
That it's a mirror, where you see your soul
In its eternal waves that chafe and roll;
Nor is your soul less bitter an abyss.

in your reflected image there to merge,
You love to dive, its eyes and limbs to match.
Sometimes your heart forgets its own, to catch
The rhythm of that wild and tameless dirge."

  1. Take one day at a time and don't rush back into your entire daily duties or else that vacation will become a distance memory. Enjoy your day!

  4. You inspired me to take a day and go to the beach. I live 15 mins. from the water and rarely go! The water is cold and it's not very hot in our area even in the summer but it's still beautiful!

    Have a great week!

  8. How wonderful was that. I love trips by the beach. By following your blog I know you needed a break heck I would be exhausted after reading everything you do and take care of.
    I can only imagine how comforting it is to be away from everything, blogland and all. We all waited patiently for you to return. Miss you
